The experience that a business offers a customer is oftentimes just as important as the product or service that is being sold in the first place. This is why smart business owners are always looking for effective ways to impress their clientele. Here are six tips that can make a real difference in your customers’ experience with your business.

  1. Conduct a Survey. The best way to find out what customers really care about? Ask them! Although not all customers will respond to such a request, there are the faithful few that will — and these are the people who will help you understand what works and what doesn’t.

Unfortunately, negative events tend to stick in many people’s minds longer than positive ones, which is why it is very important businesses to anticipate and solve problems with customer experience before they ever arise. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, after all.
  3. Personalize. Nothing impresses like a personalized experience, so take the time to make the little details count.
  4. Emphasize People Skills. Especially if you work in an industry with lots of technical requirements for employees, so-called “soft” skills such as customer service, communication, and leadership may sometimes fall by the wayside. The downside, of course, is that these things make a big difference in the way that your business is perceived.
  5. Try A Giveaway. A free product or two can really help give customers good memories of your brand, or even introduce new customers to the work that you do.
  6. Become More Efficient. When your business becomes faster and more effective, everyone benefits — from your employees, to your customers, to your bottom line. Outsourcing processes that fall outside your company’s area of expertise (i.e. accounting, payroll, HR, technical computer work, etc.) can help you and your employees focus more on your product and service — and less on the nitty gritty details of operation.
